Prof. Todd Comer completed his MA and PhD in literature and film at Michigan State University, and now works as an Associate Professor of English at Defiance College. Prior to his time at Michigan State University, Todd worked as a reporter, copy writer, and librarian.
He earned his BA (English and History) at Taylor University and was born and raised West Virginia.
Prof. Todd's strengths lie in the area of 20th century American and British literature/film and postmodern theory. One of the exciting perks of teaching at Defiance is that it also allows him to teach Postcolonial literature and Composition.
Published works
Todd has published on Joel and Ethan Coen's The Big Lebowski, Samuel R. Delany's Dhalgren, and Flann O'Brien's At-Swim-Two-Birds. He has a recent chapter in Peregrinations, Ruminations, and Regenerations: A Critical Approach to Doctor Who (2010).
With Joseph Sommers, Todd co-edited Sexual Ideology in the Works of Alan Moore: Critical Essays on the Graphic Novels (McFarland, 2012). Todd is also currently editing two collections on " terror and the sublime in contemporary film" and Occupy Wall Street.
